This coffee stood out for us as a family-owned farm with organic certification, as well as support for their workers and the surrounding community.
Located in the Oromia region, found in the Guji zone of the Shakiso district of Ethiopia, this natural process coffee is sourced from the Kayon Mountain Farm, owned and operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family.
Ismael oversees a staff of 25 permanent full-time and 300 seasonal employees, and the farm management offers free transportation, as well as financial support for building schools and administration buildings for the community.
Isamel also offers higher pay than a local mining company, to encourage workers to return year after year.
